Bulgaria's largest duty-free shop opens at Sofia Airport

The new duty-free zone is built according to the most modern European and world standards. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Anna Natova during the official opening of the largest commercial zone at Sofia Airport, Terminal 2.

"We have seen an optimistic trend of growth in the number of passengers at Sofia Airport, which reached nearly 7 million last year. The goal we have all set is to complete the planned projects in the concessionaire's investment plan, part of which is the duty-free zone, as soon as possible. I expect the new food and beverage zone to be opened soon," said Deputy Minister Anna Natova. She stressed that the implementation of these projects fulfils one of the main tasks related to changing the image of Sofia Airport and transforming it into a modern and attractive airport, meeting the high expectations of the constantly increasing number of passengers.

The new duty-free shopping area at Sofia Airport with an area of 1733 m² is operated by the international company Avolta, with which SOF Connect has a contract. The zone is located on almost 200 m² and offers Bulgarian products.

The event was attended by SOF Connect CEO Jesus Caballero, Avolta General Manager for Bulgaria Emil Georgiev, Avolta CEO for North, Central and Eastern Europe Walter Seib and Avolta Commercial Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa Alberto Iglesias.
