860 trucks of different nationalities have been checked within the plan of the European organization TISPOL

10.10.2013

Eight hundred and sixty trucks of different nationalities were checked from October 7 to October 9 within the framework of police operation plan of the European Task Force of TISPOL. This was announced by the Executive Director of Executive Agency Automobile Administration, Dimitar Ganev, at a press conference. The increased monitoring will continue until 13 October.

One hundred forty-three violations have been identified, mostly related to driving times and rests, as well as refusal to provide tachograph sheets (documents containing the chronology of the times of travel for a longer period). Eighty-seven cases of the violations were of freight vehicles with Turkish registrations, said Dimitar Ganev in response to a journalist’s question. According to him, some of the drivers had driven for 40 hours or more without a rest, which is a prerequisite for road accidents on the territory of Bulgaria.

With regard to the long queues of trucks at Kapitan Andreevo border crossing point, Dimitar Ganev explained that trucks with Turkish registrations have blocked the road to the border crossing point on their territory. "We are seeking talks with the Turkish side", assured the Executive Director of Executive Agency Automobile Administration.
