Minister Danail Papazov inspects the rehabilitated railway section "Mihailovo - Kaloyanovets"

Today the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov inspects the rehabilitated railway section Mihailovo - Kaloyanovets and is one of the first to travel by train at a speed of 140 km/h on the line.

The railway section is part of the Plovdiv – Burgas line. It is 10.7 km long and is a double electrified railway line that allowas for a speed of 160 km/h with a total length of about 21km.

During the event, Minister Papazov commented on the checks performed in the past three days by the EA "Automobile Administration" inspectors. Danail Papazov said that over 1000 vehicles have been inspected. Sixty-five tickets have been issued. Seventeen cars were taken off the road, two of them - taxi cars. The minister pointed out that the violations are related to unauthorized transportation of passengers, illegal taxi transport, and international transport of passengers without a license among others. Minister Papzov said that up until now 69 inspections have been conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and 7 – with NRA. He announced that the illegal traffic control continues.

Danail Papazov said there is a letter to the Ministry of Justice, which calls for amendments to the Penal Code and proposes harsher penalties for the theft railway infrastructure components. According to the Minister, the proposal is expected to be filed on Wednesday in the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Information Technologies and Communications.
