Public Expert Council on Internet Management set up under the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski

12.05.2015

An Expert Council on Internet Management was established under the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski. Deputy Minister Valeri Borissov was appointed chairman, and among the 30 participants in the Expert Council are representatives of ministries, regulatory authorities, scientific and professional organizations, civil and Internet associations

One of the first tasks of the Council is to adopt the draft "Principles and requirements for registration of names on the Internet .bg (IDN ccTLD .bg)" and "Methodology for evaluation of bids for Register of high level domain in Cyrillic ".bg.", which were prepared by a Working Group. Both documents have been uploaded on the website "Electronic Democracy", which is part of the government portal for access to electronic services.

The two documents were presented at the first working session of the Public Expert Council, which took place in late April. After they are discussed, the approval is due at the end of May. This will allow for the selection of candidates to appoint the registry administrator.

The national Cyrillic domain "bg" was approved by the International Organization for Internet Names and Addresses ICANN in October 2014. To enable the national address, an organization - a register of names in ".bg.", is needed.
