Deputy Minister Angel Popov participated in the opening of the new IRU office in Brussels

Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Angel Popov and the President of the World Road Transport Organization (IRU) Christian Labrot jointly opened a new office in Brussels.

Deputy Minister Angel Popov addressed the guests of the event, saying that during his six-month Presidency of the EU Council Bulgaria will strive for the achievement of forward-looking realistic results, following the principles of transparency, consensus and convergence of all policy sectors. The Bulgarian Presidency will work as a priority on the initiatives included in the first "Mobility Package", he said. In his words, the main effort for our country will be the promotion of a competitive, socially and economically stable transport sector.

The Deputy Minister added that the first "Mobility Package" should be based on fair and balanced solutions that take into account the need for adequate protection of drivers, together with the exercise of the fundamental right to freedom to provide services and the proper functioning of the European internal market .

"We will unify and count on the support of all to deal with the challenges facing the transport sector within the Bulgarian Presidency", concluded Popov.
