Ivaylo Moskovski: Starts the implementation of the first railway project, funded under the Connecting Europe Facility

We begin the implementation of the first railway project, funded under the Connecting Europe Facility This was stated by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski during the signing of the contracts on design and construction of the railway section Sofia - Elin Pelin. According to him, this is one of the first four transport projects, approved in 2015 still during the first call for proposals under the Connecting Europe Facility.

The allocated funds amount to 120 million BGN and the contractor of the project is "Kelet" AB DZZD. The section includes 23 km. double railway line and the term of the contract is four years, including one year for the design and three years for the construction of the track.

Today was signed the contract on the rehabilitation of the railway section Skutare - Orizovo, part of the project "Rehabilitation of railway infrastructure along the railway line Plovdiv - Bourgas, Phase 2". It is funded under OP "Transport and Transport Infrastructure" 2014 - 2020, the allocated funding amounts to 63 million BGN, VAT excluded. The section has a length of 26 km single railroad. Contractor of the Project is Association "European Railways" and the deadline for the implementation of all activities is 3 years.

"If the contractors of both projects work within the deadline, the transport corridor from the Serbian border to port Bourgas will be fully completed by 2022," said Minister Moskovski. He also pointed out that the investments during the new programming period follow a logical sequence of the previous projects and the goal is in a few years to have two fully completed railway directions.”
