Ivaylo Moskovski: We strongly support operators’ position on Mobility package

The Bulgarian state strongly supports automobile operators’ position and requests related to EC’s Mobility package, stated the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Ivaylo Moskovski at today’s meeting with sector representatives.

The Transport Minister and the operators reviewed the details in all the documents for discussion and shared the view that the proposals the Bulgarian state provided to the European Commission are quite reasonable and that there is no room for any further compromise, as the effects of these changes will be catastrophic for the country’s economy affecting not only transport, but other sectors too.

“The European commission comes up with legislation, whose implementation or control are not clear. Meanwhile, these laws will not be applicable to third parties, which, in turn, harms Bulgarian operators”, pointed out Minister Moskovski. In his view, the forthcoming EU Transport Ministers Council, June 7 and 8 in Luxemburg, will not reach a common approach on the Mobility package. He assured the operators that within the meeting he would once again present to the attention of his counterparts the specific requests of the Bulgarian transport sector.

What emerged from the meeting is that Bulgaria enjoys only partial support from Central and Eastern European countries.
