Minister Ivaylo Moskovski: The key word in the transport sector is "sustainability"

The processes in the transport sector evolve beyond political mandates, so the word "sustainability" is key to our system. This was stated by Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski during the conference on "Mobility for a connected world." The event is organized by the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) and involves representatives of leading institutions in transport, companies and students.

With its geographical location, Bulgaria is the only country in Europe that is a crossroad of 5 transport corridors, said during the forum Ivaylo Moskovski. He added that the efforts of the state are aimed at building a modern transport and telecommunications infrastructure.

Minister Moskovski pointed out that through the Operational Programme on "Transport" were funded 118 projects totaling for almost 4 billion BGN. "In railway infrastructure we modernized 500 km railway lines along the directions September-Plovdiv-Bourgas and Plovdiv-Svilengrad-Turkish/Greek border. Completely renovated are the railway stations Sofia, Pazardzhik and Bourgas", said also the Minister.

With European funds to date have been built 260 km highways, 31 kilometers new first-class ways, 21 km metro lines and 20 metro stations. Systems for management of vessel traffic and coastal centres have been introduced in Varna, Bourgas and Rousse.

Minister Ivaylo Moskovski presented to the students the career opportunities in one of the most prestigious and highly paid professions in Bulgaria - air traffic managers. In his words, Bulgaria is among the leaders in the provision of air navigation services. "Thanks to the exceptional professionalism and training of our personnel, Bulgaria ranked among the leaders in providing air navigation services", he said.

Cooperation established between the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and UNWE, is an example of how the state should work with universities, said the Rector of the University Professor Stati Statev. He handed over to Minister Moskovski an honorary medal for strengthening cooperation between the two institutions. From his side, Minister Ivaylo Moskovski wrote in the Golden Book of UNWE that he was happy that as a graduate of the University can be part of the institution that forges cadres for the state governance.
