Minister Jeliazkov: It is necessary the state and business to cooperate in IT investments

"The state intends to be proactive in using the EUR 1.2 billion provided by the European Recovery and Resilience Facility where there is no business interest and business approach." This was stated by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov during the second SOFIACYBERSEC conference.

The Minister emphasized that the specific projects will be focused on sustainable policies for the coming decades. "Bulgaria has a fairly well-developed physical infrastructure for electronic communications. Unfortunately, it is fragmented and we are currently in the process of integration. Together with the networks and systems that will be set up, this will be a good opportunity to develop the digital market, "he added.

Minister Rossen Jeliazkov said that at the same time the trust is on the stage. "In these complicated times, most consumers are looking for simple explanations. This makes it possible all sorts of myths and possibilities for interpretation of the effects of technology to be made up. Therefore, on one hand, it will be invested purposefully. This will be encouraged through resource sharing, spectrum tariff measures and equitable allocation. On the other hand, mistrust in the use of new technologies must be overcome, "the minister explained.

He appealed to the industry to be much more communicative with society in order to focus on the benefits not on the unproven harms and consequences of technology. "During the pandemic we saw that the Bulgarian infrastructure is very good both in terms of sustainability and speed.   This gave opportunity social services as distance learning, distance working etc. to be deployed" Rossen Jeliazkov concluded.
