Minister Rossen Jeliazkov held a meeting with US Ambassador to Bulgaria Herro Mustafa

Bilateral relations between Bulgaria and the US were the basis of the talks between Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov and the new US Ambassador to Bulgaria, Herro Mustafa. "We have been working very well with the United States for years, especially in the field of high technology, high value-added services and shared services," said Rossen Jeliazkov. Digital transformation and new technologies pose challenges for all countries to cope with cyber threats. Both Parties expressed their readiness to cooperate in the sustainable development of digital infrastructures.

Both Ministers were adamant that relations between Bulgaria and the US were based not only on the allied relations within the Alliance, but also on sharing common values and perspectives. "The dynamic political and economic environment proves that we have a good partnership that is measured by real results," said Rossen Jeliazkov. The Minister presented the development on the Trans-European transport corridors 8 and 10, as well as the joint project with Greece for the construction of the multimodal corridor Thessaloniki-Alexandroupolis-Varna-Ruse.

During the talks, the Minister informed Ambassador Mustafa about the concession of Sofia Airport. Both Parties were confident that with the successful concession of the airport, the air carriers’ interest for direct flights between the two countries would increase.

Ambassador Herro Mustafa invited Minister Rossen Jeliazkov on an official visit to the United States, focusing on cybersecurity and 5G network development.
