A post stamp marks the 60th anniversary of the accession of Bulgaria to UNESCO

Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Valery Borissov and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova validated a postal-philatelic edition dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Bulgaria's membership in the organization.

Since the mid 20th century until now in Bulgaria have been issued more than 20 stamps on the role of the United Nations and the structures thereto, said at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Valery Borissov. He recalled that the first one was dedicated to the UNESCO building in Paris.

The post stamp, which was validated today, is unique in that it represents the symbolism of hand-woven Chiprovtsi carpets that have been declared a World Heritage Site, said the Deputy Minister.

The circulation of the edition is 922 copies and the artist of the project is Bissera Valeva.
