The lack of regulation in the Northern area of Sofia Airport and the finalization of this process were discussed at the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications. The meeting was held on the initiative of Minister Georgi Todorov, and was attended by the Chief Architect of Sofia Municipality Zdravko Zdravkov, Deputy Mayor of Slatina District Toshko Nikolov, Director General of the Civil Aviation Administration Hristo Shterionov and experts from MTITC .
One of the topics of discussion was the lack of regulation for more than 30 years, hindering the development of all users of the Northern area of Sofia Airport, affecting entities subordinated to three Ministries - the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications.
In this area are located bases for maintenance of aircraft, Aviation Training Center, airlines, Transport Construction and Restoration State Enterprise, military aircraft repair company TEREM – LETETS, helicopter unit and other sites important for the Bulgarian economy.
In the framework of the talks, Minister Georgi Todorov said that it was necessary to finalize the regulatory process in order to create the most favorable conditions for the development of those sites.
