The Railway Administration Executive Agency, National Railway Infrastructure Company, and the railway undertakings discussed the safety of the railway freight traffic

The Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Velik Zanchev opened a working meeting on topic “Safety within the performance of freight traffic along the railway network in Bulgaria“. In his introductory words, he stated that the safety is a main priority in the work of the team of Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications.

Railway Administration Executive Agency (RAEA) organized the meeting in which took part representatives of the safety services of National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) and the licensed railway undertakings for freight traffic.

During the event was provided information from the planned and extraordinary inspections, which the RAEA performed to all the railway undertakings that carry out traffic of dangerous goods on the territory of the country.

In the period since the beginning of the year, the inspectors of RAEA, within the frameworks of the inspections, have performed control to the procedures and documents in the transport of dangerous goods of all the railway undertakings that exercise the activity. There have been held conversations with the personnel, including the engine drivers, for checking the competence, and the fulfilment of the procedures. Also there have been inspected all the railway border crossings, and stations from which depart compositions with dangerous goods, as well as the providers and receivers of this type of substances, or products.

Within the frameworks of the next month are to be held individual meetings with the railway undertakings as the aim is everyone to be acquainted with the specific prescriptions after the performed inspections, as well as to be paid attention to the elimination of the findings.

During the working meeting, the Executive Director of RAEA Veselin Vasilev stated that there will be performed a complete analysis of the Regulatory framework for transport of dangerous goods by rail.
