Free flow of non-personal data in EU

Regulation (EU) 2018/1807 (FFD Regulation) — on a framework for the free flow of non-personal data in the European Union of 14 November 2018  entered into force since December 2018 and applied since 28 May 2019. The aim of the Regulation is to achieve a more competitive and integrated EU market for data storage and processing services and activities.

The Regulation:

  • set up a cooperation mechanism to ensure that competent authorities have access to data processed in another Member State.
  • encourage the development of self-regulatory codes of conduct to facilitate the switching of providers and data transfer.

By Protocol of the Council of Ministers of 17 July 2019, the Minister of Transport, Information Тechnology and Communications is designated for a National Single Information Point about FFD Regulation.
