The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications takes very seriously   the road safety problem. This was said by Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Anguel Popov during the road safety conference “Peace Treaty for the Bulgarian Roads”. In his words, the increasing number of victims and people affected by car accidents is a serious problem that has to be resolved in a determined way.

The safety of navigation in the common Bulgarian-Romanian Black Sea region will be ensured via providing a place of refuge for accommodation of vessels in need of assistance. This will result from the Agreement signed today in the presence of the Prime Ministers of Bulgaria and Romania Boyko Borissov and Mihai Tudose and the Transport, Information Technology and Communications Minister Ivaylo Moskovski and the Romanian Ministers of Transport Alexandru - Răzvan Cuc and of Communications and Information Society Lucian Şova.

Bulgaria considers the automation of road transport as part of the digital revolution, said Ivaylo Moskovski, Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, during the Second High-Level Dialogue on Connected and Automated Driving, which is being carried out today in Frankfurt, Germany.

We have invested 70 mil. BGN for the rehabilitation of the 26 km long railway section from Skutare to Orizovo, stated Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Velik Zanchev during the ground breaking ceremony of the section. In his words, construction activities should finish by the beginning of 2019 and hence the trains could travel at speed between 130 and 160 km/h. He said that Belozem railway station will be also modernized within a year and a half.

By 2020 Bulgaria will have 3 new specialized vessels for exploring the state of the Danube and a new dredger for critical sections, as made clear the meeting between Ivaylo Moskovski, Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, and Alexandru-Rӑzvan Cuc, Minister of Transport of Romania, which was held today in Sofia.

The construction of Sofia metro has an extremely high added value not only to the ecology and economic development of the region, but also to the transport links between the residential areas and the movement of hundreds of thousands of people daily, said the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski during the groundbreaking ceremony of the second stage of construction of the third metro line.

I expect the rehabilitation of the last section from Septemvri to Stambolyiski to be completed by the mid of the year, by which the whole railway Septemvri-Burgas will be completed. That stated the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Hristo Alexiev during the inauguration of the renewed Stambolyiski-Plovdiv railway line and the newly constructed Intermodal Terminal- Plovdiv.

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications visited Sofia Locomotive Depot.

During the inspection in the repair base for locomotives and multiple unit trains at “BDZ Passenger Services” Ltd., Minister Alexiev got acquainted with the working conditions and the process of work. He talked to the employees in the depot and got informed about their opinion on the organization of work.

Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Hristo Alexiev inspected the new electronic system to control the theoretical exams of applicants for drivers. He visited the regional department of "Road Transport Administration" in Sofia, where today were held the first exams in specially equipped halls. The results indicated that 64 out of 84 applicants have passed successfully.

Revenues of BDZ from entertainment trips may reach 4 million BGN per year, stated the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Hristo Alexiev today during a demonstration journey by steam locomotive to the Cherepish monastery with the participation of Prime Minister Ognian Gerdjikov, ministers and diplomats.

Minister Alexiev added that the idea of this trip is to show to the diplomatic corps, on the eve of the national holiday, the Bulgarian tradition, history, spirituality, because it is important and should be promoted.

We are working on a software for improving the control during technical inspections. That stated the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Georgi Todorov during the todays debate on road safety – “For 100 lives more“, organized by newspaper “24 hours”. During the performance of the technical inspections, the data from the devices will be registered on-line in the central system of the Executive Agency Automobile Administration. Based on the received information, the platform will automatically define the validity of the inspection, said Georgi Todorov.

Funds disbursed  to the beneficiaries of OP on "Transport and transport infrastructure" so far are nearly 280 million BGN, said Galina Vassileva - Deputy Head of the Managing Authority of the program during the Sixth meeting of the Monitoring Committee of OPTTI 2014-2020. The event was held in the period 28 - 29 November in "Boyana" residence.

Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Valery Borissov and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova validated a postal-philatelic edition dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Bulgaria's membership in the organization.

Since the mid 20th century until now in Bulgaria have been issued more than 20 stamps on the role of the United Nations and the structures thereto, said at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Valery Borissov. He recalled that the first one was dedicated to the UNESCO building in Paris.

We provided a total amount of 560 million BGN for railway projects under the Connecting Europe Fcility. This became clear during the visit of the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski in Brussels. He pointed out that with these funds the total amount for rail infrastructure under OPTTI and CEF by 2022 will reach 2 billion BGN with the national co-financing.

The ceremony took place within the traditional ball on the Day of the constructor - October 26.

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski attended the celebrations on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the commissioning of the railway line Varna-Rousse. The celebration dedicated to the first railway line in Bulgaria was marked today with an attraction journey. The jubilee composition was pulled by a steam locomotive 03.12 and was constituted also by a wagon from the royal composition of Tsar Boris III - "Corona Express."

The European Union Agency for Railways will certify our experts in the field of investigation of accidents in rail transport. In the period 17 - 20 October in the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications will be carried out a training and certification of experts from Bulgaria, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey.
