Minister Ivaylo Moskovski opened the first session of the Maritime Security Council

Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski opened the first session of the Maritime Security Council.

The main purpose of the advisory council, chaired by Minister Moskovski, is to develop a security strategy for the Black Sea region. It includes representatives of all stakeholders responsible for safety in the Bulgarian sea ports.

During the first meeting Minister Moskovski informed members that the received European Commission's interim report on maritime safety was positive. The organizational structure that has been set up so far is good, but with the common efforts of all interested institutions involved in the issue, can be even achieved a better result, added Minister Ivaylo Moskovski.

The Maritime Security Council is an advisory body to the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications to carry out strategic planning of security activities related to vessels, ports and port areas. Among its functions are also the harmonization, cooperation and coordination between institutions, legal entities and individuals involved in achieving security of vessels, ports and port areas.
