Minister Moskovski ordered an emergency inspection in relation to the increased incidence of denied boarding to passengers by a low-cost airline

Upon the request of the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski DG Civil Aviation (DG CAA) will check the situation of the flights of Wizz Air. The order is related to the increased incidence of selling more seats than the available capacity by the Hungarian air carrier operating flights to and from Bulgaria. DG CAA inspectors will carry out SAFA (Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft) inspections that include flight safety, airplane technical condition, carrier documentation and crew, and compliance with the obligations to guarantee passenger rights.

The Bulgarian side does not have the power to conduct comprehensive inspections of the activity of airlines registered on the territory of another state.

DG CAA will send a formal request to the Hungarian Aviation Authorities, which are the Supervisory Body of Wizz Air in order to conduct a full inspection of the air carrier as well as an explanation of the reasons for the situation that has arisen.
