Deputy Minister Anguel Popov: Hydrogen mobility is MTITC’s priority

Deployment of hydrogen mobility in electric transport is among the priorities of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, announced Deputy Minister Anguel Popov at the opening of the Hydrogen Summit in Sofia. In his words, the matter relates to the update of EU Directive No 94 on deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure.

Deputy Minister Popov noted that the Ministry has established a national framework for the setup of ten hydrogen fueling stations in the country by 2025. He pointed out that the initiative undertaken by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) to analyze legislation, best practices and obstacles for the deployment of hydrogen technology will be useful when implementing the program. Bulgarian Academy of Science’s participation is yet another guarantee for the achievement of the ambitious goal, he added.

“Yesterday’s presentation of two hydrogen-powered cars showed the introduction of this technology in our every-day life and we hope to service soon such vehicles at the first fueling stations in Bulgaria”, commented further Popov.
