More than € 20 billion is needed to modernize the main Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) across the six countries in the Western Balkans. This was announced by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov at a regional roundtable in Podgorica, Montenegro. He added that these impressive investments were unbearable for the budgets of the individual countries, and he expressed his belief that the European Union would continue to support the construction of infrastructure in the Balkan region.

At today's EU Council meeting, five more Member States supported our position to drop the requirement for trucks to be returned to the place of establishment within four weeks. This was stated by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov today in Brussels after the meeting with ministers from the group of the like-minded states on the Mobility Package 1, which inclides Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Hungary, Latvia and Lithuania.

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov together with the Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova and the Executive Director of Metropolitan EAD Prof. Stoyan Bratoev checked the progress of the construction activities from Stage 1 on the third subway line in Sofia. The stretch is 8 km long and includes 8 metro stations between Vladimir Vazov Blvd. and Krasno Selo Residential Area. The line is expected to be put into operation at the end of the year.

The positions of the like-minded Member States on the Mobility Package I were discussed, with the Romanian representative official stated that Romania will definitely join the group of the like-minded group and will actively participate in the negotiations on the Package.

Both ministers offered flowers to the monument of Vasil Levski in Tsaribrod and held a working meeting with the Mayor of the city Vladica Dimitrov.

Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov checked the progress of the construction and assembly activities of the Congress and Research Center in Burgas. The project is worth 13.6 million leva and is financed with funds from the Port Infrastructure SC. It is expected that it gets completed at the end of this year.

In Bulgaria and Russia simultaneously, the fourth joint philatelic edition was launched. This time, the postal administrations chose as a plot one of the traditional branches of the economy - wine production, said during the ceremony in Pleven, Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Dimitar Genovski. He added that the art project, which is being launched on the Russian philatelic market, depicts the special grape variety - "Kaylashki Rubin", which is not inferior to the quality of world-famous varieties.
