The suspension of the concession procedure at Sofia Airport requested by BSP is not provided for in the Concessions Act and there is no legal basis. This was stated by Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov during a briefing, in connection with a request by MPs from the BSP, to stop the concession procedure.  The Minister clarified that the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, not the State, is the concessionaire of the procedure.

The European Parliament's Committee on Transport and Tourism rejected the two reports regulating the ban on resting in the cabin trucks and the posting of drivers in cross-trade operations. This was announced by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Rossen Jeliazkov, following today's vote on the Mobility Package I in Brussels.

Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov presented the Bulgarian position on the Mobility Package I during a meeting with one of the dossier rapporteurs, Wim van de Camp. The Ministers of Transport of Lithuania, Hungary and Poland also attended the meeting and supported the Bulgarian position. Jeliazkov informed Wim van de Camp for the upcoming protest of the Bulgarian hauliers in front of the European Parliament, which is appointed for tomorrow during the vote on the Package.

We should use all means of European bureaucracy to defend national interests during the voting on Mobility Package I in the European Parliament, said the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications following today’s meeting at which were discussed the incoming actions before the review in the Transport Committee in EP on January 10, 2019.

We have prepared legislative proposals on the Mobility Package I, to be submitted by the Bulgarian MEPs to the European Parliament. This was announced by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rosen Jeliazkov after a meeting with representatives of the branch organizations in the road freight transport.

Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Croatia and Malta voted against the common approach on the legislative proposals in Mobility Package I, which was adopted within the Transport Council of the European Union. In the 15-hour negotiations, Bulgaria expressed its firm stance against the proposed texts.

During the discussions, it was agreed that vehicles should not be made to return home, which was one of the “red lines” for our country.

86% of the modernization of the railway section Skutare - Orizovo is completed. This was stated by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov at the time of the project inspection. The 26-kilometer stretch between Skutare and Orizovo will be completed early next year, the minister added.

Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Dimitar Genovski and Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Piotr Wawrzyk validated a postage stamp on the occasion of the 100th  anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Poland. The ceremony was attended by the Presidents of the two countries - Rumen Radev and Andrzej Duda.

The new texts in the "Mobility Package I" proposed during the Austrian EU Presidency are much more restrictive. This is what the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov said during today's meeting with European deputies Andrei Novakov and Petur Krumubashev, as well as representatives of the branch organizations. According to him, these proposals will become a mechanism that will lead to serious shocks for the Bulgarian economy and industry.

The centennial anniversary of the ascension of Tsar Boris  III to throne is significant, not only because he is a remarkable person but also because the Bulgarian statesman and politician has been a passionate fan of philatelic art, said Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov during the validation of a special postage stamp dedicated to the anniversary. The seal for putting into use was placed together with the successor of the Bulgarian monarch - Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.

Over 80 per cent of global data are based on geographic information, while the sector market is estimated at more than 400 billion USD annually, announced the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Rossen Jeliazkov, at the opening of the 20th International GIS Day.

There is no technological solution or industry that do not use geographic data, added the Minister. Their significance increases in state governance, administration, defense and security.

Within two years, Bulgarian legislation needs to be updated with the texts of the new European Code for Electronic Communications and I personally commit myself to this, said Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov. He participated in the Annual Conference of the Bulgarian Association of Cable and Communication Operators and took part in the discussion of the draft Code of Ethics for Consumer Telecommunication Services. Minister Jeliazkov stressed that the European Code is expected to be published in the EU Official Journal at the end of the year.

We change training, examinations and control of young drivers. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications Angel Popov at today's conference "Together for Safer Roads", organized by the Union of Bulgarian Motorists. In his words, these issues were laid down in the division of the Road Traffic Act and the creation of two new laws - the Vehicle Drivers Act and the Road Vehicles Act, as well as the legal framework for them.

Within the EU Informal Council of the Ministers of Transport, October 29-30, 2018, Minister Jeliazkov held talks with his counterparts from Austria, Romania, Spain, Portugal, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia putting forward Bulgarian arguments on the controversial issues in Mobility Package I. He was firm in his disagreement with the disproportional, discriminatory and dividing rules for member states. Minister Jeliazkov sought support for the proposal removal the regulation for vehicle return highlighting Bulgaria’s peripheral location.

On 29 and 30 October, Minister Rossen Jeliazkov took part in the Informal Council of Transport Ministers of the EU. The Ministers discussed the legislative proposal of the European Commission on the termination of summertime switch and the Bulgarian party highlighted the importance of a harmonized approach and a realistic transition period. In the session on road safety, the significance of the issue for Bulgaria was pinpointed.

A platform for information exchange between MTITC representatives, the National Assembly Transport Committee, Bulgarian representatives to the EP and sector organizations, was set up to discuss topical issues on Mobility Package I, announced the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Rossen Jeliazkov, before EC representatives during the hearing at the National Assembly on negotiations progress on the Package. In his words, the system presents a tool for the timely exchange of positions and decision-making.

We will all together defend our national consolidated position on the Mobility Package texts proposed during the Austrian EU Council presidency. This is what the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov said at his first meeting with representatives of the branch organizations of freight transport companies. He expressed his willingness to continue the active dialogue with the branch and the Bulgarian representatives in the European Parliament, regardless of their affiliation to different political families.
