Deputy Minister Nedyalkov presented Bulgaria at a transport forum in Kazakhstan

The development of maritime transport has a key role to play in improving Bulgaria's connectivity with Asia. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Dimitar Nedyalkov during the 6th International Transport and Logistics Business Forum "New Silk Way" in Astana, Kazakhstan. He pointed out that efforts are being made to improve and modernize the transport links of the Bulgarian sea ports with the interior of the country. "This will increase their efficiency and reduce the time for transporting cargo, which is the main goal of the European Union," Dimitar Nedyalkov stressed.

The Deputy Minister pointed out that deepening the partnership with the other countries of the region is essential for the full exploitation of the Black Sea potential. "Our efforts are directed in this direction, both within the framework of the significant regional initiatives - TRACECA and the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, and in bilateral relations. Our goal is to complete the construction of the railway highway from the Bulgarian-Serbian border to the Bulgarian-Turkish border and to the port of Burgas by 2030," Deputy Minister Nedyalkov said.

Among the priorities of the Ministry of Transport and Communications is the modernisation of the transport infrastructure with a focus on the TEN-T network and the Orient/Eastern Mediterranean corridor. Other priorities are limiting the negative effects of transport on the environment and human health through the development of rail, intermodal, water transport and electromobility, as well as increasing the security and safety of transport with an emphasis on road safety, the deputy minister further noted.
